Greetings ~

I was born in 1951. I remember as a young boy of around the ages of 4, 5 and 6, I had this idea that everything before 1951 was in black and white. People, landscapes, animals, buildings, everything. That was because the photos that I saw were mostly in black and white. I suppose most young children have these sort of weird thoughts as we are getting to know our world.

The Titanic oceanliner was of big interest to me as a child since I found an original 1912 published book on the subject in our attic. I have studied this ship ever since. And at this writing, I am pushing 70 years old.

But in 1911 and 1912, most everyone saw the ship through a photographer's eyes, or, actually, through their lens. And that made the ship black and white. That is the images I remember. But today, with our technology and some very talented folks out there, we can see the Titanic in the same way that her passengers, crew and other bystanders saw her...in color!

Through computer technology these people have made it possible for us to see the old west, the roaring '20s, and the gay '90s in a completely different way. Presidents Abe Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt and others are now in color. Even the Civil War and World Wars I and II are in color. And the Titanic is in color. That's what this blog is all about. And it's dedicated to the people who have made it possible for us to see this great classic vessel come to life in living color. Thanks to all of them.
